This was one lucky capture. I asked dancer Anna Rohovec to give me some classic poses. She was doing all the standards when she spun around and bent back into this pose. I literally only got 3 shots and this was the only that was usable. My hubby was up on a 5 foot wall with a silver reflector that gave it this ethereal lighting.

Location
This shot was taken outside by a old vault door to a bank that was torn down years ago. I took this shot for a class assignment on out door lighting.Time
This was shot late afternoon in December. We had an unseasonably warm day which allowed for the costume.Lighting
The subject was in a shaded area. My husband was standing on a 5 foot tall wall with a reflector to bounce the late afternoon sun on the subject.Equipment
I shot this with a Canon Rebel T3 with an 18-55mm lens. 100 ISO, F/8, 1/40. I had my husband bouncing light from a silver reflector on to the subject.Inspiration
I am a hugh fan of Jordan Matter and his dancer series. Ever since I started following his work I have wanted to shoot dancers. This young lady is the daughter of a friend and generously helped me with my assignment. I ask her to give me some standard ballet poses. She went up on her toes posed a second, spun around, and gave me this lovely back bend. I got 3 frames, 2 blurred and this one perfect. The combo of the silver reflector and the pink stucco gave the image a really soft ethereal look. This was my best image of my semester and took me from an A to an A+.Editing
This was shot in RAW. I did some minor sharpening, blemish repair, and skin smoothing. I dodge the door to make the subject pop a little and spot healed anything that caught my eye and distracted. In my camera bag
I have my 18-55 mm, my 90mm F/2.8, and a zoom 75-300mm lens. I have a flash, reflectors, and tripod.Feedback
I put out a casting call for dancers offering images in trade for their time. Dancers are very good at following direction, have amazing posture, and are very aware of their feet and hands. I used a large silver reflector with the subject in the shade. I had the person holding the reflector back about 10-12 feet from the subject to get a nice even light on her. I had the subject go through dance motions slowly pausing and holding the pose for a few seconds before flowing into another pose.
