Wow....who would live here.....please tell me their story?

This a Russian settlement on the Norwegian owned island Svalbard. There is about 500 people there at the moment, they have to do a 2 year contract there coal mining. Cold and desolate, I hope they get paid a lot! :-) But worth the visit..
