Location
This picture was taken at The India Gate monument, New Delhi, India. I am a student of Political Science and photography is my passion, all the pictures I take are like a new lesson for me.Time
It was around midnight and almost all the lights were out except this particular lamp and the firefly near it.Lighting
It was a moonless night and hence it was very dark night. The lamp was the only thing in the vicinity providing any kind of light to the surrounding and it also attracted the firefly towards it. Watching the lamp and the firefly I thought about taking a long exposure shot, wishing to get the trail from the Firefly and luckily enough I got it.Equipment
This shot was taken when I had recently started using Canon 60D and I even had my tripod with me. These were the only two equipment I had with me.Inspiration
I have always been fascinated with night and trail photography but I was bored of getting the same traffic trail shots and so this scene brought forward a very unique opportunity and I took it.Editing
Usually I only use Adobe Lightroom but in this particular case I used a software called Photomatix as I was doing some HDR work at that time and did'nt want felt like changing the software. The result was much better than expected. In my camera bag
I usually have my Camera with a 18-135mm and 50mm Lens kit, remote and it's sensor, a ND filter and my tripod with me. These things are usually enough to deal with any sort of conditions.Feedback
Well I am an Amature Photographer but I will try my best to explain please bear with me. Since this is a night shot it is preferable that you have a tripod with you because night photography usually means long exposures and no matter how still you think you can be a tripod will easily be much better. Now as it is a long exposure picture and the subject is a source of light keep the ISO setting at the least possible, for example mine was I think a 100. Next comes the the Aperture Value which is again very important as its night time, aperture again should be opened very little so as allow minimum light in, for example I had it around f22-f32. White Balance is important but while taking a picture in black and white you can leave it be. The final and most important thing is always shoot in Raw. That's it, I think if you follow this advice a similar picture will be very easy to take.
