Incredible lighting and composition. There is a VB contest called Hide and Seek... Hope this makes it in there. It is fantastic. Great shooting. Keep these coming.

Location
This photo was taken in front of the church I was attending at the time, near Columbus, Mississippi.Time
Sunrise is my favorite time of the day! As the sun slowly rises higher above the horizon, I get to witness another day coming to life. I was taking some pre-dawn photos of the church when I noticed this beautiful sunrise happening. It didn't take long for me to shift my focus to this scene.Lighting
With the sky turning a vivid red, and the suns rays just illuminating the low fog, I was able to get the right balance between the highlights and shadow areas of the scene. There is still enough shadow in the image to create a little mystery!Equipment
I used my Nikon D700 with a 70-200mm 2.8 lens. Handheld and praying!Inspiration
As I was taking photos of the church, I noticed the color in the sky starting to turn a magnificent red and light up the surroundings. With the color in the sky and the fog on the ground, it was way too good to pass up!Editing
I really didn't do that much post-processing to this image. I bumped the contrast up a little and lightened the shadows some and that is about it. Editing was done in Lightroom 4.In my camera bag
I always have my Nikon D700 and 70-200 2.8 handy! That is my go to set up for most shoots. My 24mm 2.8 is the next favorite lens. My speedlight and a reflector or two are usually not too far away at any given time!Feedback
In this instance this scene isn't what I originally started out to capture. My focus was the building, but as the sunrise started to unfold it became the star of the morning and I was able to get this image! So, I would tell others to always keep an open mind and eyes to what is happening around you. You never know what may pop up from behind the trees!
