Location
Eyre Hall, in Cape Charles, VA. One of the oldest plantations still in the hands of a direct descendant. This was the orangery, which burned down many, many years ago. In teaching, one of the topics is framing. Thought this was a perfect example.Time
Shot just before noon - 11:30:25.Lighting
Nothing really. The huge trees kept the structure in the shade while a bit of sunlight added some highlights.Equipment
Nikon D300, 24-120mm f/4.0 lens. Shoot at 38mm, ISO 800, 1/1250 sec, at f/11. Hand held.Inspiration
I love framing photos and the white picket fence on the other side just added that extra punch I wanted.Editing
Very little LR or PS added. Just brightened the bricks a little. In my camera bag
Depends on what I'm shooting. My two main carmeras are the Nikon D800 and D500. Lens get swapped out but usually the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VII, Nikon 24-120mm f/4.0, and either the Nikon17-35 f/2.8 or the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8. When I'm shooting an air shop I will also carry the Nikon 200-500mm lens in a separate case.Feedback
I always try to frame the subject by using surrounding items or lines leading to it. Don't just shoot it square on with a lot of extra stuff or you lose the main object. The eye should be drawn to the subject.
