I took this photo in ou back yard after an unexpected frost. I was very new to photography, but I was fascinated with the frosted affects around the rose petals. It was my first lesson on the importance of opening my eyes to the beauty in the world around me, even in my own back yard.Time
This was an early morning photo. It was one of those "everything else can wait" photos. I saw the frost and grabbed my camera and started shooting.Lighting
I really was new enough to photography that I just took what I thought looked good. The sun was out, so I knew the frost would disappear quickly.Equipment
I just had a Lumix digital camera at that time. It actually was a good camera, but I now have a Cannon 5D Mar III and a 7D Mark II. I've been very happy with them and especially love my 100-400mm lens for nature photos.Inspiration
I love the beauty in nature! What better way to enjoy the beauty for years to come than taking a good photo of it!Editing
I cut back the highlights a tiny bit. The sun wanted to wash out the detail in the ice. Other than that, I wanted to keep it as natural as possible. In my camera bag
Then, I just had my Lumix camera and a back up battery and a lens cloth. Now, I have those things and a few favorite lenses and two different types of tripods. My one tripod is a 35 ft. tripod - I don't use it if I have to go more than 35 feet! The other tripod has less features, but I can take it almost anywhere.Feedback
