I like the focal point of the chair, but I really love the antiquity of the tracks and the girl in black and white! Hope you have as much fun with this site as I have.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at an old train Bridge which crosses the Ottawa river in my hometown of Ottawa Ontario Canada.

Time

I had been planning a series of photos with this particular red leather chair and the model, who happens to be a friend. We hit a few different areas across town for some of my ideas. 'Walk Away' was shot in the early afternoon.

Lighting

All natural light...no flash.

Equipment

Canon

Inspiration

Despite having been told by a couple photographers that color isolation photos looked "amateurish" I decided that my red chair series would be color isolation shots. I wanted to do something different. I wanted to prove them wrong. I had taken many different shots but none were quite what I wanted. Then, when we were taking a break, she walked a short waydown the tracks. She turned to come back and I yelled for her to keep walking away. The shot was done!

Editing

Post processing was simple and obvious. The image, sans the chair was converted to b&w.

In my camera bag

Camera, flash batteries, diffuser.

Feedback

Use your imagination, forget what others tell you.
