Pardon this interruption in the Pink Mother's journey, but this timely image had to go up ASAP! I promise we will return to her shortly :)
This latest image from my Enchanted Sleep series is a protest against the Institute of Medicine's proposed new name for myalgic encephalomyelitis-Chronic Fatigue Syndrome; "Systemic Exertion Intolerance Disease."
SEID is universally hated among ME-CFS sufferers for numerous reasons, but especially because its new diagnostic criteria only include four symptoms... symptoms which are present in almost every disease known to man. The IOM also spent about a year and a million dollars of what is a very little-known and extremely poorly-funded disease. There was absolutely no need to blow a million bucks reinventing the wheel and leaving us worse off than we were before. If the new name and criteria become the norm, we have no hope of ever finding a cause or cure with definitions so vague, anyone with any disease could qualify for it.
And as an ME patient myself, I can't let this go unchallenged. Please see my latest blog for more info, versions of this image you can help me spread of social media, as well as other ways you can help! We need every person we can to win this fight!
