Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on the docks in Apalachicola, Florida while we were vacationing on St. George's Island which is beyond the bridge. This town is known for it's oysters. They use the shells as "mulch" in the flower beds around downtown shops. Very quaint.

Time

It was Dusk in October and we came into town for some dinner and shopping.

Lighting

The sun was setting and the lighting was perfect. The shimmer on the water was fabulous and the full moon rising added just the right touch.

Equipment

At the time, I had a Canon Rebel T3 with the stock lens. Hand held, no flash.

Inspiration

Great subject matter and composition. It was like a gift handed to me.

Editing

Not too much post-processing. I kept it on the dark side to not lose the feel of the photo. I did bring up the saturation a little to accentuate the colors of the sunset. I also had this photo printed on metal to pick up the shimmer on the water.

In my camera bag

Two Canon bodies-EOS 6D, Rebel T3 Lenses: Canon 24-105mm, Canon 75-300mm, Tamron 70-300mm Flash: Commander Optics Speedlight

Feedback

Go adventuring, see the sights. Look for beautiful skies, great clouds and interesting content. Composition is key. Of course, dawn and dusk are magical, but you can always find something fantastic in everyday things at any time of day. Just keep your eyes open.
