I took this photo at home. I am doing a 365 project, and I find there's no better motivation for taking a photo than the last minute, especially with a challenge of this kind.Time
It was late in the evening. I remember it was a rainy day, so I couldn't go out to take a photo, and had to improvise something at the end of the day.Lighting
Being an indoor photo, taken late in the evening, the only lighting source for this was the electrical light in the room. I hope I'll get a studio and some lights sometime in the future, but that's still a dream.Equipment
This photo was taken with my run-down Canon PowerShot G12. I think it's sensor is a bit tired, usually with indoor lighting the pictures come out with strangely colored grainy lines, but I was lucky with this as it came out in focus and not too grainy. And no wonder it's tired, as I carry it in my bag a lot, and it's seen its fair share of adventures.Inspiration
I never tire of looking at other people's photos, and go as many photography magazines as I can, both in print and on-line. I think the best way to get inspired is to look at other creative people's work. The idea for this came from looking through an on-line magazine, where I this image, that I wanted to recreate myself.Editing
I'm terrible at post-processing, so I did the bare minimum. The picture is cropped, converted to B&W and the light is slightly adjusted. And that's it!In my camera bag
Not sure this qualifies as equipment, as the Canon PowerShot G12 it more of a point and shoot, but I usually either have that, or a Canon EOS 1100D, that I carry with me.Feedback
I had one photographer friend who once told me he doesn't look at what other photographers are doing, because he doesn't want to be influenced by them. My thoughts are quite the opposite, I think it's better to know as much as you can about what other people are doing, and to look at their work, because that is how you learn, and by practice, you eventually produce better images.
