I took this photo in the field behind my house a couple years ago (before it all got tore up and stores placed there :( ).Time
We did this late during the day, after the sun had set and the bugs came out!Lighting
We wanted to take this photo in the pitch black but didnt think about the bugs. So sitting still long enough for the photo was extremely hard. Always remember BUG SPRAY!Equipment
My Nikon D90 and my tripod since this was taken after the sun was gone and it was getting dark.Inspiration
I always wanted to try to take a photo series at night. I learned a lot from this photo (bug spray being the biggest lesson). And even though things didnt go as planned I was happy to see we got this one photo :)Editing
Yes, I did darken the photo a bit more to give it more of a night feel. I also played around in channel mixer to change the colors of the flowers and grass. I wanted this photo to look more like a dream, not very realistic. In my camera bag
I now carry my Nikon D600, my 50 1.8, my 85 1.8, my remote, wipes, and usually a prop or two.Feedback
Be patient, wear a lot of bug spray and enjoy. Even if it doesn't go as planned, usually you can still get something workable out of the shoot. Always make sure ahead of time that you have all your props and everything you need, and always give yourself more time then needed. Rushing never works!
