Location
This photo is taken in Greece, at a small village on the mountains of Corinthos, called Velina. The village is situated at a height of 1050 m. and few people live there during the winter. My father-in-law has a house there for weekend excursions. We travel constantly there with my family and the nearby woods, the mountain slopes and the serene village make this an ideal place to take some photos. There used to be more people living there but not anymore. This is one of the almost abandoned houses of the village.Time
This was taken in the morning hours, before noon. The clouds blocked most of the sun and I found the weather conditions great to take photos.Lighting
Thanks to the cloudy day the picture captures the mood I wanted to represent. I darkened it up a bit in post-processing, but for the most part it was looking great as it was.Equipment
I used my Nikon D5000 for this with the 18-55 lens it comes with when you buy it. No tripod, the shot is hand-held.Inspiration
The state of the abandoned house inspired me to take this shot. I wanted to show how objects transform when they are neglected by men. I bet it was a great place to live once, but it almost crumbles now due to the battering it takes from the weather at this height. Winters are harsh in Velina and this fact shows.Editing
I darkened the shot to create a mood that depicts the feeling of abandonment and then I played around with a couple of Topaz filters to enhance the structure of the stone house and the environment around it.In my camera bag
I usually have my Nikon D5000, two lenses (18-55, 55-200), polarizing filters and some lens attachments for macro photography.Feedback
