Location
This photo was taken in Monkey Island, one hour away from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. An awesome place full of little monkeys that try to rob you when you're not looking. The monkeys were particularly interested in my hat. A couple of times they surprised me from the back and jumped on me to take my hat. I was walking around with my one hand on my hat, and in my other I had my camera.Time
It was around 10:00 in the morning when i took the picture. Me and my friends woke up early to explore the areas around Ho Chi Minh City and one of the places was this fun Monkey Island park.Lighting
It was a sunny day an the sun was pretty high in the sky.Equipment
I shot this with my Nikon J2 with an 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. I didn't use any other equiptment.Inspiration
We were walking around in this park, and the little monkeys were everywhere. Running around, making noise, trying to rob us. It was chaotic and fun. And then I noticed that one of the monkeys was climbing a small building, he isolated himself from the rest and set down on this building as to take a rest from the chaos. While playing with a little leaf he was looking around and having a calm moment. The contrast between his calmness and the other's chaos inspired me to photograph him.Editing
As it was shot in RAW, I did some basic post-processing. Also I emphasized the color contrast between the monkey and the green building. In my camera bag
I am an amateur photographer and don't own that much equipment. At the time I took this picture, I only owned the Nikon J2 and the 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 lens with a circular polarizing filter, and a UV-filter, and that would be all I would carry with me.Feedback
I would say: "look up". At that moment there was a lot happening around me. Little monkeys running all around us, trying to jump on us when you're not paying attention. But still I looked up at this building and saw one of the monkeys climbing it. I waited to see what he was up to and found him sitting and resting from the chaos that surrounded me.
