If anyone is curious, this is a photo I took on what was supposedly Ragnorak, 2-22-2014. I did not alter the original pic at all, just reflected it, and flipped the new image half, to complete the circular rainbow and give it perfect symmetry. Then i rotated the entire new image 90 degrees to yield the final result...hope you dig!

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at a park by my old house where my children used to play.

Time

This photo was taken around 3:00pm

Lighting

Well, it was outside on a bright sunny day. It was February, but it was one of those pre-spring February days we get in Louisville Ky that let you know warmth and sunshine is on the way, and it had just rained, so the natural light was fantastic

Equipment

I only used my cell phone...the original Lgstylo.

Inspiration

I am big on nature, and always looking for something beautiful to snap a picture of. While at the park, a huge rainbow appeared over the sun, behind some trees and caught my eye. It caught my attention even more than normal, because I had read the night before that it was supposed to be "Ragnorak" and it made me think of the Norse rainbow bridge. Also, there was an eerie feeling in the air at the time as I watched it appear in the sky. When I got home, I doubled, flipped, and reflected the image, and was amazed at the Viking faces that were created in the symmetry of the image. Ultimately, I ended up reading that the rumor it was Ragnorak came from some viking museum in England that was promoting an event that day, but Ragnorak or not, I felt like I caught something special, hence, the title.

Editing

The original picture is a tree with the sun behind it, and a huge rainbow around it. The only processing I did was to double the picture. Then i flipped and rotated it to put them together and create the symmetry seen in the final piece.

In my camera bag

Really, all I currently have is my cell phone. I would really love to get a nice camera and lens but cannot currently afford them. This is good and bad I guess. Good because it forces me to really use my eye and look for creative shots...bad, because I think my shots could be 10 times better if I had the proper equipment.

Feedback

Honestly, just use your eye. Look for amazing things in strange places, and always have a camera around to capture them when they reveal themselves to you. There are great photos everywhere in nature, waiting to be shot. You just have to have the vision to see them and be prepared to capture them when they present themselves.
