Location
This photo is taken in the New Forest national park on the south coast of the UK, we are very lucky to live wedged between this beautiful forest and the sandy beaches. The forest is only about a 1,000 years old for the most part, created as a royal hunting ground. It's a great place to photograph deer and wild ponies.Time
This photo was taken a little after lunch time, we had spent the day exploring the forest actually looking for deer to photograph as my wife has quite a passion for them.Lighting
I was really drawn to the patches of light creeping through the trees and sporadically covering the ground.Equipment
My camera is a D3300, I'm very new at this, only started shooting with a DSLR a couple of months before this photo was taken. The lens is a 50mm prime from Nikon and I shoot in manual. Although new at photography I like to jump in the deep end when learning and also favour full control of situations so shot in manual from day one, pushing myself to find the right settings for every shot.Inspiration
My daughter, the girl in the photo, is always the trailblazer, she may not have known where she was going but she going to get there first. As she headed down this path the light just looked amazing and it felt like an awesome shot...Editing
It was shot raw so there are some basic changes in Lightroom to bring the picture out, but I didn't do anything out of the ordinary with this shot, it actually looked pretty good straight out of the camera. In my camera bag
I'm really new at this, so I have my D3300, it's kit 18-55mm lens, a prime 50mm lens, Neewer Speedlight.Feedback
I don't think I'm at a point where I have a right to give advice to others, so many of the photos I see on ViewBug are just so incredible, I still have so much to learn for myself!
