Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Paris about five or six years ago.

Time

This image was taken just after sunset as you can see the sky is changing to the dark blue of night time. Leaving the Metro with the Arc de Triomphe is great, even if you don't want a specific photograph of it.

Lighting

There is nothing too particular about the lighting in this image, a slow shutter speed and resting it on the ground to avoid shake, is all this image took.

Equipment

At the time of this image, my camera was an Olympus spuz 590, a birthday present from my mom.

Inspiration

I love visiting Paris and I never get tired of it as a city. Each visit, I always visit the Are de Triomphe, there is something about the business of the location that I love. I wanted to create something that wasn't a typical tourist snapshot, which is incredibly hard to do in a typical holiday destination. However, I feel photographing from this particular angle allows for something slightly different to be captured.

Editing

The only post processing that occured on this image was to enhance the contrast of the colours involved in the image.

In my camera bag

I enjoy shooting on film, so I have a 35mm Chinon camera. I have recently started to use my phone a lot. However, my main camera until an upgrade is the Nikon D90 with an 18-135mm lens.

Feedback

Keep your eyes open and don't be embarrassed to try new things, you don't have to follow the crowd, just because everyone else takes a photograph a certain way, doesn't mean you have to. We all have our own imagination.
