Mr Jey is beautiful. A great friend too. We both had the same idea of highlighting those gorgeous eyes. Thank you.

Location
This portrait was taken at a village gala, its the pack leader Siberian husky from the Snopeak Sleddog team.Time
This was early afternoon in a Scottish summer. The weather is always unpredictable, more so in our summers. This was a gloriously sunny day for a change.Lighting
The sun was high in a cloudless blue sky and while everyone was enjoying the weather, these huskies were certainly not. The heat was a problem for these snow lovers, so they were staying close to the trees and shade. This ruled out any auto exposure as the pure white fur sitting in shadow was still reflecting the bright sunlight. I took two reading and exposed midway between the background and subject readings. I wanted to make sure the dogs fur wasn't bleached out and still showed texture.Equipment
Canon 20d with a canon usm 28-105Inspiration
I was there to record the days events for the Gala committee. After taking photos of the events and attractions, I went back to the sleddogs and snapped away.Editing
Colour splash. Converted to monochrome, keeping the eyes original colour. In my camera bag
My billingham bag currently carries a canon 5d with battery pack and my backup 20d with it's battery pack. I usually have two canon lenses, a 28-105 usm and a 100-300. A speedlite with omni flash and off camera flash bracket. Numerous batteries, to add extra weight but peace of mind, and a few compact flash cards. I always keep a mini screwdriver, wee scissors and torch in the bag. They can sometimes be the difference between shooting and going home!Feedback
I have a lifelong love of our canine companions so I'm comfortable around them regardless of size or energy. The best expressions are usually captured once the dog is comfortable with the photographer though. Time permitted, I let the dog do its own thing rather than shouting commands. This tends to help the dog, me and the owner all relax. Obviously treats come in very handy at times. I also keep a squeaky toy in my pocket, the unexpected squeak always get a reaction. Sometimes it results in being jumped on by an over excited subject but that's all part of the fun. I love photographing dogs. I'd happily do it all day, everyday.
