This is a Ringed Teal duck (Callonetta leucophrys). it is found in South American forests. The Ringed Teal breeds in north-west Argentina and Paraguay, also occurring in Bolivia, Brazil and Uruguay. Their habitats include tropical, swampy forests and marshy clearings in well-wooded lowlands, as well as secluded pools and small streams.

I loved this little chap and you have caught him beautifully, I love the catchlight. We're you not able to get the highlights down any more than this, the light plumage on its head seems a little blown out to me.

Love this guy!! Maybe a faster shutter speed would keep the light from washing out some of the detail. I'm always adjusting things and most of the time have no idea what I actually did. :) -Kathy
