Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at the Dark Hollow trail along Virginia's Skyline drive. I only had my t3i kit lens during that time (couldn't afford an ultra-wide lens then) but I'm happy how the photo turned out.

Time

The photo was taken around noon on a sunny day autumn on autumn of 2013.

Lighting

Thankfully, the canopy of the foliage helped filter some light out which game me the perfect lighting condition. It also helped that I brought with me a cheap, 4-stop ND filter I got online to play around with.

Equipment

During the trip, I brought with me my t3i with kit lens, a basic tripod, and ND filter and remote for long exposure.

Inspiration

The beauty of nature.

Editing

Some post processing were done in lightroom to bump up the dynamic range a bit and some color correction.

In my camera bag

I used to only own a t3i then my wife bought me a Canon 6d as a gift so I now almost exclusively used that with a f1.8 50mm.

Feedback

Be patient, take lots of photos, experiment and most of all, have fun!
