Location
I took this photo of Moraine Lake during road trip across Canada. I was postioned myself much lower compared to the usual angle you see of the lake, using a wood pile to add some interest to the foreground.Time
We went on so many amazing hikes during our trip to Canada, which meant lots of ealry mornings. I actually took this photo on the way back from a big hike around the lake when the couds were coming in for the evening.Lighting
I like how the image has two sections of lights, one failing on the wood pile and then again on the mountain peaks, its seem to draw your eye down, up and through the image.Equipment
This was shot handheld on a Canon 7D using a Sigma 18-55mm lens.Inspiration
Being in Canada you don't have to look very far for inspiration, I guess the only thing I tried to do was to look at things a little differetly. I'm sure there were hundreds of photos taken of the lake that day, but a doubt many captured it from the angle I did.Editing
I cropped the image, turned it B&W and used the dodge and burn tools to highlight areas of interest. In my camera bag
My equipment list is rather small, I'm only a hobbist so tend to buy a new bit of kit every few years. I've had my 7D for a few years now and focus on buying good glass, filters and triggers. Currenlty my bags is filled with a Canon 70-200mm F4, Sigma 18-55mm 2.8, Canon 50mm 1.8, various SRB filters - my favourite being the 10 stop, Nero Trigger and a reliable Giottos tripod to keep everything steady.Feedback
For every obvious photo, try to get one from a more interesting angle/position.
