Location
This photo was taken in the Smokey Mountains National Park. This bear was in a black berry patch and was not very concerned that I was there, however I don't think that he was going to share any of the berries.Time
This was taken in the late afternoon. There was still plenty of light and a very clear day.Lighting
There was really no problem with lighting. I just metered on the bear and adjusted when he went into shadows or bright light.Equipment
This was taken with a Canon 7D with a 70-200 lens. I used an Oben tri-pod. No flash was used.Inspiration
I live close to the Smokey Mountains, and love to take photos there. Wildlife photos are my favorite, but I have also taken weddings, family, engagement photos and such. If you take wedding photos, don't stop taking pictures of the bride to take a deer photo. Not a very good idea. Bears are my favorite subject, they seem to be curious about what you are doing. This one only gazed at me every once in while and I don't think that he would have cared if I had joined him, but I didn't.Editing
Used very little post processing with light room.In my camera bag
I have a Canon 7D that I use all the time and a T-3 that I have had for a long time. I have a 85mm, 100 2.8, 70-200 2.8, 300 f4, and a 150-600mm Sigma lens. I always carry a flash and reflectors.Feedback
Wildlife photos are very fun to take, but not always safe. If wildlife don't want you intruding into their territory, it is best to go find a more cooperative subject. I've never had a bear attack me but I have had birds to do so. Treat all wildlife with respect and remember that you are the intruder and they decide whether or not you are welcome.
