It was an amazing cathedral in Italy. The view from the top was incredible as well. Can't believe that they were able to create something as intricate as this back in that day and age. Thank you as well for the nice compliment.

Location
It was taken during a trip to Italy that my son took me on when he returned from Iraq after his first deployment. This photograph was taken while on the top of one of the Duomo's (Italian Cathedral) that we visited. This particular Duomo was located in Milan, Italy.Time
The photograph was taken during the early afternoon right before Christmas.Lighting
Because it was during the Christmas holiday, the weather in Milan was overcast and a light mist was falling throughout most of the day. I believe that because of the hazy, misty cloud cover, the shot was able to achieve the look I was hopping for.Equipment
While most people would be surprised to hear this, I didn't have any fancy camera at all during my trip. I used the first digital camera I ever owned to take this photograph and that camera is the Olympus FE-230 with 7.1 megapixals and a AF 3x Optical Zoom lens. Guess that shows that you don't always have to the very best camera to get interesting shots. I did not use a tripod, just leaned over the side and snapped away.Inspiration
We had toured the inside of the Duomo and when we heard that the roof was open to view, we jumped on the chance to see what the view was like from the top. I was fascinated by the intricate details and how they were created without machinery but done completely by hand. So I leaned over the side and attempted to capture those intricate details not even noticing the people on the street below going about their lives. When I downloaded all my photos from that day, I was surprised to see all that I had managed to capture.Editing
I, personally, do not like any form of post-processing or photo-shopping of photographs. I love the surprise that comes with just taking a picture as you see it, and finding the surprises of life as it was seen through the lens.In my camera bag
I still carry my Olympus camera in my bag, but about a year ago my husband updated his camera to a newer one so he passed his Sony Cyber-Shot with a 12x Optical Zoom down to me. I have a few filters that I am still learning how to use in different settings. Other than my camera and filters, I always make sure that I have plenty of batteries in my bag.Feedback
When you see something that catches your attention, just go with your gut and snap away. Try to add a different angle to your pictures and never shoot something straight on. Angles make a photograph more interesting. Don't take photos in the bright light, as the best details and colors come out under filtered light either by cloud cover or haze.
