Behind The Lens
Location
The photo was taken in Toronto downtown along the Front St.Time
The photo was taken around noon. I took this photo while I was taking a walk during my lunch break. I often took a short walk during my lunch break and trying to look for things interesting to shoot.Lighting
I am an amateur photographer. Generally I try to use natural lighting. On that day I took the photo the weather was overcast with light snow so the sky appeared grayish which made yellow colored bridge stands out.Equipment
I mainly use Nikon D90 for a more serious shooting but carry a Lumix DMC ZS30 pocket camera with me at all time. It is compact enough to fit in my pocket and yet still have some manual feature to handle. I recently upgraded my pocket camera to Lumix ZS50 and bought a Fujifilm X-T1 for its light weight.Inspiration
I usually took a short walk during my lunch break to clear my head. I always have with me a pocket camera. I was admiring this bridge and took some photos on the bridge but as I walked off the ramp, I turned my head and had another look at the bridge. The angle of this bridge appeared to me as if a rocket passing by in front of my eyes and that transcribed interesting view and told a different story of a bridge.Editing
I used element 10 to boots up contrast and sharpen the image. Also apply some degree of blur in the background to torn down the background. I want the bridge to be more stand out to convey what I saw.In my camera bag
It all depends on what my intention to shoot. However I always have a pocket camera with me at all time. I recently upgrade my pocket camera from Lumix ZS-35 to ZS-50. I use Nikon D90 with various lenses i.e. 105mm, 35mm, 15-200mm, 55-300mm. recently I also purchased Fujifilm X-T1 for its light weight and powerful features. Its kit lens is 18-55mm.Feedback
I enjoyed my lunch walk when at work. Often I passed same building, things or objects many times in hurry and missed looking at things from different angle. For this bridge, I passed a few time in hurry and did not pay much of attention to it. Only on that snowy day, I decided to slow down and really enjoyed the walk in the snow. I slow down my pace and stopped to see and to feel from a different angle then it stricken me of this feeling of seeing a rocket. So my simple advice is to slow down and look at the object from different angle and you will be surprised at your new discovery.
