Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my front yard at the end of summer 2013, near Jacksonville, FL.

Time

Mid afternoon

Lighting

Sometimes the sun can be our friend, took this in full afternoon sun.

Equipment

Used my Nikon D3100, sigma 70-300mm lens in manual focus.

Inspiration

I had been trying all summer long to get a great shot of this giant swallowtail butterfly, every single time I tried they would just fly away as fast as they came by. One day this beautiful girl was hanging around and decided to give it another shot, knowing good and well it would probably fly away as soon as I came close. To my surprise she let me snap several shots, I was so surprised at how well I did and the detail I was able to capture.

Editing

Cropped and adjusted contrast.

In my camera bag

I keep in my bag my Nikon D3100, Nikon 50mm prime lens, Sigma 70-300mm lens, Sigma 70-200 f2.8 lens, strobe light and diffuser .

Feedback

Be patient, and try, try again.
