Location
I really like to take photos of wildlife especially birds and often go for morning or evening walks with camera in hand. This little champion popped up in the reeds when I was waiting for some larger birds to come in for a drink. I was only about 200 metres from home near a canal, one of my usual haunts.Time
It was 8:35 am when I had the sunlight behind me at a low to medium angle.Lighting
Just took advantage of the morning light to make sure I didn't have any problems with shadows.Equipment
My Canon EOS 60D with a Tamron 200-500mm lens and a small carry chair. Shot was hand-held no tripod or flash used.Inspiration

As I am usually looking for birds I always have the Tamron 200-500mm lens and the Canon 60D. Other gear includes a monopod for long id shots, a smaller lens Tamron 28-300mm lens for closer shots and a Canon 2x extender.Feedback
Pick the right time to take your photos, for me this time is early morning or just before dusk when it is a little cooler. The light at these times is better than bright overhead sunlight. Study the local area and work out where the birds are, ie reeds, grasslands, trees and pick a position where you think the birds will be active. A small fold up chair in a partially hidden area is idea. Patience, silence and making sure that the camera settings are correct are my key requirements.
