Behind The Lens

Location

Bandipur National Park, an 874-sq.-km forested reserve in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, is known for its small population of tigers. The park also harbors Indian elephants, spotted deer, gaurs (bison), antelopes and numerous other native species.

Time

Bandipur cats are pretty shy, it takes a lot of patience and a larger amount of luck to spot a tiger. I was out in the forest in a safari jeep with an experienced driver, from around 5am, tracking footprints and hoping for a sighting. Finally succeeded at 10am.

Lighting

Pretty bright day... The snap was taken in bright sunlight.

Equipment

A Canon 75-100mm lens

Inspiration

I love spotting and taking photos of wildlife in their natural setting. There's a great deal of luck involved in spotting a tiger.

Editing

Basic corrections using Photoscape

In my camera bag

2 Canon DSLRs, 18-55mm & 75-100mm lenses, 1 Canon point and shoot, battery charger, lens cleaning tools, a tripod, a laptop, notepad and a pen.

Feedback

For wildlife pictures - a truckload of patience, a very experienced guide to give you tips and tricks, the right equipment and a high level of attention to detail to spot footprints, smell, pathways, etc.
