Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a field lying in front of our home, situated in a rural part of India. Photography is completely new to me and I'm in the initial stage of teaching myself about this beautiful art. So, I'm very happy for the way this photo has turned out and even thrilled for the recognition it is receiving.

Time

I took this shot on one of the welcoming days of cold December-weather. It was taken on 4th December, 2014 at 7:59 A.M.

Lighting

Before switching on the camera of my phone, I had reminded myself that my view must have an artistic-perspective, the subjects must blend with each other and a beautiful relationship should be formed among themselves. I tried my best to keep my objectives at bay. This shot is one of its result. I felt that the blending of cobweb, grass and early-morning dews will make-up a beautiful oneness impression. I don't know much about how to manipulate light. So I minded only to be cautious about our pet-dog from destroying the cobweb as it was built on the grassy field. The soft and evenly distributed natural light did wonders on its own.

Equipment

I don't have any classic or heavily compacted photography equipments. I used my Samsung mobile phone of GT-19105 model to take this pic.

Inspiration

I had been to my village on the basis of a short leave. Usually, whenever I go home I tend to get-up late in the morning. But, I had decided the previous night that I must take some shots of our village's early morning's view. I was inspired to do it after going through some marvellous shots of mother-nature taken by our very talented Viewbug community members. This is one of my favourite pics out of numerous shots I took that beautiful morning. It is also one of my memorable days because that day I enjoyed a lot walking around the fields with my mom and our pet dog, watching and little bit helping my mom in mending the fences made out of thorny wild plants around our fields, collecting the fallen coconuts and dragging the heavy coconut-leaves and playing with our pet all the way to our home. I rarely get to experience such beautiful moments. Photography is actually helping me to experience the joyful and light moments of my life. All thanks to Viewbug community and for the support and inspiration it is rendering to even an amateur photographer like me.

Editing

I used Picasa3 for post-processing. Originally I took the shot of the whole cobweb but later on cropped it to give it a dramatic touch. I did the basic edits like sharpening, smudging the grass and little bit of shadow-adjustments and colour boosting.

In my camera bag

I don't have any camera-kit.Till now I have been using my Samsung GT-19105 cellphone to take all the shots. Anyway owning a good camera-kit is my dream.

Feedback

I think it is an inevitable fact that one must be patient enough while capturing the shots of nature. Giving importance to even smaller details can give a whole new level of beauty to the photo. When we try to relate one concept with another a more depthful and a prettier bondage can be established between them. Even an uneven and daily viewed things, which we often ignore thinking it to be a very silly or a common view to be photographed, can turn-out to give you chills when tried to capture it from a little different angle or from an odd side or even by entirely changing your own thinking and degree of importance given to that subject because, sometimes a common view to us can mean a lot to someone else.
