I took this photo in Gilbert, Arizona at Gilbert Riparian Water Ranch. They have seven ponds and a quite large wooded area to walk through. Its one of my most favorite places to go to with my camera.Time
I had just dropped off my wife to work and 2 miles down the road was where I was able to take this picture at the Gilbert Riparian at about 8:30 a.m. The lighting was great at that time in the morning.Lighting
Nothing real special about the lighting, it was early morning. Also in the winter time, you have to understand about Arizona, winter is our summer weather in most other states - 75 to 80 most days.Equipment
I used my Nikon D5100. The lens I used was a 55mm-200mm fully extended. I have never been fond of tripods so all of my photos are hand held and so it is with this one. There was no flash as the lighting was excellent.Inspiration
I have been practicing taking flight shots or of anything that moved so that I was able to get a clear picture. As I arrived at the Riparian that morning, there were numerous geese on the water and as luck would have it, a hawk flew over and the geese were on the move. I wasn't sure whether to take the picture of the hawk or the geese. Not only did I get this particular picture which is my favorite, I got numerous others. All because I wanted to improve my flight shots and did.Editing
Yes I improved the color a little bit and made sure the focus was sharp. In my camera bag
I normally don't carry a bag. When I leave my house I have my camera and the lens I intend to use. I have already made up my mind as to what I had my sights on as far as taking pictures. My D5100 camera and my 55mm-200mm lens.Feedback
I think the best advice is to never give up, be clear of what your goals are, practice, practice, practice and just have fun. Relax.
