I always look out at my butterfly bush while in bloom. This bush is in my front yard in East Peoria, Illinois, USATime
I took it around 2:00pm August 2013Lighting
I had a Nikon point and shoot with the flash on auto but it did not go off.Equipment
I only used the little point and shoot, held by hand.Inspiration
I regularly stalk my butterfly bush. I have gotten great shots of hummingbird moths and all kinds of swallow tails. I was thrilled to get these two on at once. Although they look good in this shot, both butterflies had torn and tattered wings.Editing
My goal is to do as little processing as possible. I did crop but that is it.In my camera bag
I now have a Nikon D3300 with a wide angle, zoom, and macro lens. I no longer carry a purse, the camera bag is now all I carry.Feedback
Keep looking out where you want to shoot. Every time I walk by the window I look out at the flowers and see if there are any interesting visitors. Every morning I take a stroll through my yard and repeat in the late afternoon.
