Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken on the Island where I live Foulness Island in Essex.UK. owned by the MOD it is an active firing range for military guns, shells, etc.so ideal as for my hobby as very few people live here and even less people visit, ideal in the quiet times for wildlife etc. although restricted heavily as to where we can go.

Time

This was taken at Sunset,

Lighting

I just wait till it "look's right" then fire of 4 shots or more. Wait a few minutes then repeat as many times as I am happy with.

Equipment

Very basic equipment as I am on the move a lot of the time, my trusty nikon D700,spare battery in my pocket and my Tamron 18-270mm which to my mind is the best lens I have ever owned.Very rarely I will take my monopod unless I have my Nikon 500mm with me.

Inspiration

Right place right time, know your area as an ex commercial fisherman I can get a good idea of the weather by the clouds and wind etc. I knew it would be a good place on this particular day.

Editing

I try not to do much processing as my laptop is ancient and very slow, just a touch of contrast adjustment usually.

In my camera bag

I very rarely pack a bag just change the lens if I going after some wildlife shots.

Feedback

Know your area watch the weather and just press the release button as much as you want .
