Location
My husband and I took a lifetime trip to Hawaii. We were in the middle of a park when I realized these chameleons were in the trees. I tried to get a photo and one of the locals picked it up and gave the shaka sign, which is a sign of goodwill, hang loose, etc. They are amazing little creatures and I was thrilled to find so many on our journey.Time
This was taken in the middle of the day while touring some of the parks of the Hawaiin islands. There is so much to see and do there, we were happy to have a car to go from place to place.Lighting
Luckily, the area was shaded by a canopy of trees allowing me to take a shot without supportive lighting.Equipment
I was shooting with a Nikon D810 and a walk around lens, 28-300 Nikon FX lens. No tripod, hand held.Inspiration
I love finding wildlife and usually photograph without the "human" touch. I don't post photos of fences, houses, etc. But this was special, and an exception.Editing
Minimal post-processing, probably some cropping. In my camera bag
I usually shoot with Nikon D500 or at this time the D810. I will carry a Nikon 200-500 lens, and a macro 105 Nikon lens.Feedback
Be ready. I literally had seconds to capture this shot before the local was ready to leave and the chameleon was ready to head back to the trees.
