Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at my cottage in Bruce County

Time

I'd noticed Cedar Waxwings eating the berries off of the service berry trees. I set up my tripod and blind and waited a couple of hours until I managed to get this shot.

Lighting

It was a cloudy day so the lighting was more soft than usual for this time of day.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D40 with a 200mm lens, and a tripod.

Inspiration

I just love the colours you see on Cedar Waxwings. Their bodies have such an interesting shape. Just great looking birds.

Editing

With this image, I just did a little cropping. Most of my photographs do not have any post processing.

In my camera bag

Not much really. Camera, regular lens and telephoto lens. I also keep the battery charges and cleaning kit for camera and lenses.

Feedback

I walk a lot and pretty much always take my camera with me. When I have time to set up for a shot I always use my tripod. Experiment with different settings on your camera and take lots of pictures! I will often use almost all of my pre set settings when taking pictures as this is a quick way to capture images with many different effects.
