We actually just pulled into the nearest place to get this sky shot and ended up standing in a utility company parking lot across the street from the church sign.Time
It was around 5:00 p.m. in late December 2013; we were driving home when I saw all those incredible colors and told Mike he had to stop.Lighting

That incredible sunset sky! When Mike pulled off the highway, we just happened to be across from the church sign so I took an extra shot with it in the corner, which turned out to be the best one of them all.Editing
Aside from cropping, I rarely do post-production on my nature shots. God makes such incredible images for us to capture, it's hard to improve on the original.In my camera bag
These days my bag is loaded with a Nikon D3100, an 18x55mm lens, a 70x200mm and a 40mm macro, along with various filters, diopters, remote. The tripod is always in the car!Feedback
Always, always, ALWAYS be prepared - don't leave home without your camera! Slow down and be aware of your surroundings. Keeping our eyes open and imagination wandering helps us to see all of the beauty and wonder that surrounds us every day. Most people don't believe me when I tell them this is an unedited accidental shot. Sometimes we really do just get lucky!
