Location
The Lake in the image is known as Gurudogmar Lake, one of the highest lakes in the world, located at an altitude of 17,800 ft (5,430 m) in North Sikkim, India. It is a lake which is considered sacred by both Buddhists and Sikhs. It is 190 kilometres (120 mi) away from Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim The lake remains frozen during winter months. However, there is a particular section of the lake which remains unaffected by the cold weather and is visible as a milky water.Time
We reached this place around 9:30/10 am Indian Standard Time & the day was 24th of November 2010.Lighting
Though this place is situated in the North Eastern part of India where sun rises, therefore the lighting even during morning time was perfect.Equipment
The image was shot by using a Canon Powershot A2200 camera which I had during 2010.Inspiration
Me & my wife are nature lover, we travel a lot & explore new places, its was a long awaited trip to North Sikkim. I guess the image itself is self explanatory in terms of depiction of beautiful nature around us. One of the interesting fact about this place is, the boundaries of China begins few kms beyond the snow clad mountains.Editing
Unfortunately not much could be done just a slight correction of lighting was made through picasa..In my camera bag
I own a Nikon D5200 with 18-55MM & 70-300MM Tamron Lens, reverse ring for Marco photography, a tripod stand, one spare battery & remote control.Feedback
Photography is all about patience of a photographer & how you use the available source of light.
