My family and I went to a museum called "Butterfly museum" in New Jersey.Time
This was in the afternoon will the sun was shinning. The room we were in was open, as far as light, to the outside world.Lighting
The lighting, although inside, was open to the lighting that was outside. The roof was a clear element to the outside world as far as light is concerned. So I took advantage of the light coming in to light up the bird.Equipment
The camera I used was a Canon T4I with a stock lens 18-135 with no flash. Used all natural lighting for this shot! This was also handheld.Inspiration
While taking photos of butterflies, I was intrigued by this little guy! He had such great colors I had never seen in a bird before. I took several shoots until he just turned and looked up at me as if to say, "Take my photo now!".Editing
Since this was taken in RAW I did do some adjustment with this shot. I did the usual lighting and contrast and adjusted the blacks and whites. I also boosted the saturation a little bit. I was told awhile ago by a very established photographer that only make minor adjustments to a photo and try not to be very heavy handed with adding. In my camera bag
My bag carries a nifty fifty, 100mm macro, extra batteries, lens cleaner, cloth.Feedback
In capturing animal you need to me very patient. Just don't shoot what you see at the moment. Stop and observe and continue to take pictures. You will be surprised at what you may see from them!
