Love this shot; natural, true, honest and beautifully composed... nice work :)

Location
I took this photo of my dog, Mrs. Bó Jangles, in some long grass during a little adventure.Time
Bó, which is the Irish word for cow, has been a loyal and trusted friend for seventeen years and is happy to pose for the camera at any time. This was at early morning so while it was bright, the light was soft.Lighting
The lighting is natural, early morning and so it is soft. I like how it catches her eye and brings the viewer directly into eye contact.Equipment
It was shot with Nikon D5100 and Sigma 70-300 lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
I like the framing in the shot, and the depth of field adds to the mystery, with Bó's face half hidden in the long grass.Editing
I'll be honest, I'm a self taught photographer and editing is not my strong suit. Therefore I try to get as much right in camera as possible. This is the advantage of having trained Bó all those years ago, she will wait while I arrange the settings and allow me to shoot. I usually just crop and straighten in post.In my camera bag
I usually carry Nikon D5100, Nikon 18-105, Tamron 70-300, flash, tripod and spare batteries.Feedback
Patience is key, and having a well trained animal subject makes life a bit easier.
