Behind The Lens

Location

This photo of a McDonald Douglas C-47 was taken at a display in front of the Silent Wings Museum, Lubbock, TX. I am a novice photographer who enjoys taking photos from unexpected angles.

Time

The time of day was mid afternoon.

Lighting

The lighting was natural sun light diffused by some wonderful clouds.

Equipment

This was a handheld shot with a Nikon Coolpix S9300.

Inspiration

I love showcasing old or historical items especially ones that have lots of texture, wear and tear and color. I also wanted to showcase this plane from an unusual angle.

Editing

Yes, I processed this photo in Lightroom to adjust contrast and exposure. Then moved it into Photoshop to dodge and burn various areas. Finally applied a tonal contrast through Nik ColorEfex.

In my camera bag

As a novice photographer of only 8 months, I now have a bridge camera (Olympus SPP-100EE), which I am using to learn shooting on manual before I invest in a full dslr.

Feedback

My best tip is to walk around objects like this ... shoot from every angle possible. I usually have an idea of what I want but sometimes I am surprised by what I've captured from shooting every which way but straight on. Most of all have fun!
