Location
I was travelling Australia by motorcycle and was introduced to this cave system by Mike Kostner from Boyup Brook WA, whom I met on my travels. He took me on a tour of the south east area of Australia including Cape Leeuwin lighthouse built in 1895, a tree top walkway and the cave system. When Mike first entered the caves in his youth it could be accessed only by a small hole in the roof and he had to lower himself down on ropes but nowadays they have built an entrance for the tourists.Time
It must have been around mid-day but that does not matter underground.Lighting
Tripods were forbidden so every shot was hand held, some ok, some total rubbish. No flash was used only the lights used in the caves.Equipment
The camera is a Sony DSC-HX9V Cybershot which is a pretty good little camera. No flash, No tripod (not allowed).Inspiration
It's fascinating how the minerals can be moved from one place to another by liquefaction and reformed into such shapes.Editing
No I try to do everything in the camera as I do not relish sitting in front of a computer for hours on end but this image could do with a little help from PS.In my camera bag
On this trip I had very little as space was at a premium, the Sony DSC, a Sony small tripod, Gopro, Contour helmet camera and a Sony Handycam HDR-CX130. All the digital info was saved to an Apple Macbook.Feedback
The problem here is your not allowed items like tripods or bulky bags but if I was going to go back to these caves or somewhere similar I would carry a clamp which could be fastened to the railings and steady the camera that way.
