I took this during the Venice Carnival. It was a moment of 'down time' when the masks were lowered to reveal.... another mask underneath. Carnival was traditionally a time when anyone could do anything under the anonymity of the masks worn. So moods and facial expressions could be changed easily but you still wouldn't know the mood of the wearer beneath.
