Behind The Lens

Location

English Garden, Munich, Germany

Time

Late evening (11pm)

Lighting

I am an IT consultant and had a lot of stress at work. One day, I couldn'the sleep at night, so I decided to take my camera and go practising long time exposures. I were a photography beginner but still already had my complete camera equipment with me all the time. When I arrived in the Garden, I set up my tripod, added the camera and knelt in the snow. For more than two hours. But I didn't freeze at all, I just had fun trying out long time exposures. And I was impressed how it is possible to get such awesome pictures if you just spend enough time...

Equipment

Canon EOS 600D + Canon EF-S 18-55mm + Tripod.

Inspiration

I saw so many awesome pictures of waterfalls shot with long time exposures and just wanted to try it myself, without expecting any good results (as it was my first try).

Editing

I have increased the contrast, I think that's all. (Sorry if I forgot something - long time ago)

In my camera bag

My camera backpack is always with me and packed with my Canon EOS 600D, kit lenses EF-S 18-55mm + EF-S 55-250mm. Also, Canon EF-S 50mm and Walimex pro 14mm. A lot of Filters, raincover, 5 or 6 camera batteries, some memory cards, flash, cleaning equipment and a lot of small tools for the camera.

Feedback

At the beginning I nearly gave up being a photographer because nothing worked how I wanted it. I saw all those nice pictures from other people and than mine which were quite disappointing. But I went on, watched tutorials, read magazines and tried again. And I understood: The most important thing for becoming a good photographer is: patience. Try, fail, learn, retry, win.
