Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my backyard along a wild property line. Many denizens of the small world make their home in this area and its a closeup photographers dream.

Time

This photo was taken on an overcast day close to midday.

Lighting

I'm an aficionado of light and its effect on my photographic subject. The light on this occasion was subdued and beautiful and allowed me to photograph my subject without undue harshness from an overly bright sun.

Equipment

Panasonic DMC-G6 with Panasonic 100-300 mm coupled with extension tubes. Camera was hand held.

Inspiration

I was on a small denizen safari in my backyard specifically hunting dragonflies and damselflies.

Editing

Yes I performed post processing in Lightroom 5, Photoshop Elements 12, and Studio Photo Editor.

In my camera bag

I keep my Panasonic DMC-G6 and several lenses as well as extension tubes in my bag. I occasionally use a monopod or tripod for this kind of photography.

Feedback

One really doesn't have to take photo jaunts to exotic places to capture good images. I'm a nature photographer by choice and when birds or larger animals won't cooperate I will venture into the closeup world of beautiful insects. The best advice any photographer can give is 'learn to see not just look'. Happy hunting!
