I took this photo at Cades Cove in the Smokey Mountains.Time
It was early afternoonLighting
The lighting seem perfect to me, it was a beautiful day.Equipment
My husband just purchased me a D7100 Nikon camera (an upgrade from my D3100) and he just got me a 300 ml fixed lens. This is one of the first photos I took with the 300 ml fixed lens.Inspiration
I have a great love for wildlife - especially horses. When you photograph a horse, they offer so many unique expressions not to mention their beauty is among some of the most beautiful things I have seen in Nature.Editing
I do not remember doing any processing of this picture, if anything I may have cropped it and adjusted the light with photo shop.. but to be honest I really do not remember. In my camera bag
It is easier to ask what equipment I do not carry in my bag. I usually carry at least three different lens sizes with me, a 55 ml, 80 ml. 200 ml, and depending on where and what I am planning to shoot my 300 ml fixed lens. I carry lens cleaning kits, different filters, different flower hoods, Nikon SLR cards and a lot more. Sometimes I will strap my tripod to my case but again it depends on what I am planning on shooting. I do know the next time I am at Cades Cove I will be carrying my tripod-one because my 300 ml fixed lens is heavy and second because there is a lot of different kind of wildlife to see and photograph.Feedback
The only advice I would offer is, if you are planning a trip to Cades Cove in the Smokey Mountains, try to arrive there early... Cades Cover is a beautiful place anyway but there is something about early morning lighting especially when photographing horses. When you are photographing the horses remember to breathe *laughs* often and all of us are guilty of it, we will hold our breath so we do not shake the camera. Always take several shots of each horse you are photographing. I try to put my camera setting to continuous shooting, each step the horse takes, the wind will move its mane or it will display a different expression, it is better to be safe than sorry so you do not miss the chance for just a wonderful shot. The day I took this photo, I believe I shot something like a 150 different shots just of the horses-and I only kept a handful. You will be amazed of the photographs you can get at Cades Coves especially the wildlife.
