Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Moraine Lake near Lake Louise in Alberta Canada

Time

Late afternoon

Lighting

I used existing lighting only

Equipment

I used a Canon 30D SLR, hand held

Inspiration

It is such a photogenic location overall and this tree just stood out

Editing

I used Photoshop with camera raw and NIK plugins. I start with camera raw to reduce noise, check and adjust exposure, white balance, highlights, shadows, clarity, vibrance etc. then I go to PS where I do cropping use the clone and healing brushes and NIK plugins for further noise reduction tone mapping and final tone adjustments

In my camera bag

Canon 30D with 17-85mm and a Canon 70-300mm zoom lenses, polarizing filter, lens cleaning kit

Feedback

first look for something that stands out to you, take lots of shots with different view points. If shooting on a sunny day, play with the sun, I have shot fountains with the sun behind my back but with the sun in front of your view behind the fountain, wow... Watch your horizon, remember water doesn't go uphill and trees tend to go straight up and most important of all have fun
