Location
This photo was shoot in El Encano, near the Laguna of La Cocha, en Nariño, Colombia.Time
This was taken the 5th of november 2011, around 1:38 pm, while waiting for transportation to San Juan de Pasto the capital of Nariño. At the time, I was talking on the cell phone with a girlfriend, and I see this parrot in a house entrance, so I got closer and start shooting.Lighting
I have read about the danger of shooting at noon before, but at this time I really do not care about, because the bird was there and I was leaving the place, so, I chose f8 and search the compensation at 1/200 at 100 ISO, and start to shoot handheld while talking with Elena. The light let appreciate the intensity of the colors and textures of the bird.Equipment
Canon PowerShot SX20 IS, handheld, no flash, no tripod.Inspiration
Really, I feel the time was right to do the shoot, because everything was there. The bird, the light and the moment... and even I live in a country where the fauna is espectacular, I have never seen a parrot like this before, so I take the chance to do it while I can.Editing
The post-process were simple, a little bit of color adjustment and contrast. Nothing rare at all.In my camera bag
Right now, I have a Power Shot SX40HS, because I sold the SX20 IS. The rest is a little microfiber cloth to clean the lens, a little towel and nothing more. The lighter I travel, the best for me.Feedback
Do not be afraid to shoot at noon. Always try to compensate the light with the aperture, the speed at a lowest ISO possible in your camera, and do not feel guilty to make mistakes. Remember that the SD memory can store much more images than the old films cartridges.
