Can understand why people are captivated. The sheer forces required to create the distorted strata must have been immense.
Absolutely amazing shot and an amazing spectacle.

It is an amazing place and an amazing sight! Even when you are at the base of Devils Tower, the climbers look like little tiny specks. Geologists agree that Devils Tower was formed by the intrusion of igneous material, but they cannot agree on how the process took place. The Native American lore varies a little bit from tribe to tribe, but the essence of the lore is the same - Native American children were running from a bear, they jumped onto a rock which then grew toward the sky, keeping them safe from the bear, and the grooves in Devils Tower are from the bear's claws when he was trying to reach the children. Thank you very much for your kind words and Peer Recognition!

Wonderful image of an amazing place. I've been fortunate enough to have stood on it's top on two different occasions many years ago!
