Location
This photo was taken at Fort Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas in the Florida Keys.Time
This was an absolutely amazing day in Dry Tortugas in August of 2014. I had taken the seaplane with only 3 other people on the first morning flight from Key West. Since it was "off season", there were no guides at the Fort, so I was able to wonder around all alone, with just my camera. It was wonderful to be able to get so many photos of the fort, without the crowds of people. It was very serene.Lighting
This was taken with natural early morning light, no special lighting effects.Equipment
This photo was taken with a little Nikon CoolPix camera. I wasn't traveling with a lot of equipment at the time. It just goes to show that one can capture great images without fancy equipment.Inspiration
The fort has incredibly eerie and interesting history. It is the largest masonry structure in the United States, with over 16 milliion bricks making up its structure. I was inspired by the beauty, peace, quiet and symmetry of the location Can you imagine walking around a fort on an island with only an handful of humans. It was serene and magical.Editing
The only post processing I did was cropping. In my camera bag
At this point in my life I carry only my Olympus EM 10 with two lenses, a 14-42 and a 75-300. I also have a macro lens which I take occasionally. Of course, I have ND filters and polarizing filters for my lenses and a tripod.Feedback
The best advice I can give is timing. I always try to arrive to my location before or after the crowds. Rarely are there people in my photos. The beauty of this photo is the serenity, solitude and symmetry.
