Paul as an old hand I like the fact that you are trying to make something and doing a good job. I do see a lack of composition in your pictures. Like cut in half and sloping horizon. Are you familiar with the rule of thirds? Hope you don't mind the comment. Feel free to rubbish (some of) mine. :)
