I shot this photo near the Smoky Mountains. I was standing on a rock photographing Middle Prong Little River, near Tremont, TN.Time
I was with a group of photographers and we usually go out and shoot waterfalls just after sunrise.Lighting
I photographed the river in the early morning after sunrise before the light started to shine threw the trees causing shadows onto the river.Equipment
The equipment I used to capture this shot was a Canon Rebel t4i, Canon EFS 18-135 lens, and a Induro tripod.Inspiration
I had never photographed the colored changing leaves, so I wanted to make this moment special for me and my photograph. I shot this in November of 2014, so there was a lot of color. There was a bridge I could have shot from, but I climbed down into the rocks to shoot for a good angle with the colored trees and the flowing water. I got many great shots, but this was my favorite because I felt I had captured it all at this location. I got to photograph the colored leaves just in time, the next day there was 16 to 20 inches of snow!Editing
Yes, I did. I used Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop, so I did the basic of processing such as adjusting the contrast, saturation, vibrance, the lightening, and Photoshoping out some branches.In my camera bag
I have a trunk that I use to store my equipment and usually I keep it in the car. Depending where I go and what I shoot is usually what lens I bring to photograph with. Although, most of the time I bring my macro, Canon 18-135mm lens, and my Tamron 18-270mm lens.Feedback
My advice for any photographer shooting waterfalls is to set your camera for long exposure shots to make the water smooth. I usually use f22 and the lowest iso (100) on a tripod.
