The photo was taken at Struisbaai habour in the western CapeTime
This photo was taken just before sunrise. I had to get up early to beat the sun. It was rather cold that morning. I had about 10min shooting time. I had to find the right position for the shot as soon as possible. I used my tripod and self timer due to the slow shutter speed.Lighting
The effect in the photo are only possible before the sun rise. Once the sun hit the horizon the whole atmosphere changes.Equipment
I used my Sony A7 body and a 28-55mm lens and tripod.Inspiration
Our summers are very dry and no rainfall, so not much cloud. I live in a winter rainfall region. This means one has to take advantage of the awesome landscapes created during the winter months. I shoot as many as possible during winter.Editing
With this photo the only post-processing done was to lift the contrast slightly. In my camera bag
Sony A7 body, 28-55mm, 135mm and 400mm lenses.Feedback
One has to be the early bird! Know your environment beforehand and choose your spot for you wont have much time to do the shot. Be prepared to play around with your exposures and use a tripod.
