Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was actually taken in my friends back yard, after a photo shoot at another location. Lesson, never miss an opportunity to capture a moment of beauty..

Time

Around 2 o'clock in the afternoon. The sun was absent, hiding behind the clouds.

Lighting

It was a cold, cloudy, grey day. So I thought the bubbles would be a whimsical approach. They helped create an intimate feeling, enabling me to capture the innocents in her eyes.

Equipment

Nikon D3200, using a DX Nikkor 55-300mm f/4.5. My friend assisted with the bubbles and the scene played out perfectly.

Inspiration

The situation was very relaxed, a bunch of us were sitting around on a sunday. I had my camera in hand, it was just a moment that needed to be captured. She was just so perfect and everything was new to her. I wanted the picture to have a softness to it, as to illuminate her playful nature.

Editing

I brightened the photo a little. I usually rely on my lens to draw out the character of my work.

In my camera bag

I have now upgraded my camera to a Nikon D7000. I have a standard 18-55mm and I always use my reflector disc.

Feedback

I believe that composition is one of the most important aspects to photography, always be aware of the back ground. I love creating the bokeh effect, I find it so romantic. Have fun and experiment with different and unusual forms of visual effects.. Research other photographers for inspiration. You'll learn so much by following examples and discovering your own strengths and passions.
